Good news for all petrol heads, Volkswagen India is planning to launch a petrol version of Jetta sedan. The company has already begin testing of the vehicle which is spotted a number of times. The spotted vehicle resembled the same as the diesel variant except the ‘TSI’ badge at the rear. We hope the interiors and features will be similar to that of the diesel variant.
Coming to the overall appealing, the new Jetta looks like a modified VW Vento. On the front, the headlamps look similar to that of Vento’s. The rear of the Jetta is similar to the new Passat, with Audi inspired tail-lamps over the boot. The car is based on the same platform as the VW Golf, Skoda Yeti and Skoda Superb are being built.
The interiors of the Jetta will be getting a brighter treatment, there are plenty of cup holders and the drop-down armrest in the rear also allows access to the boot. On the whole, Jetta petrol will be more or less the similar as the diesel variant as far as looks, space and comfort are concerned.
The Petrol edition is likely to be powered by the 1.8-litre TSI engine, giving away 160 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque which is mated to 6-speed manual transmission. This 1.8 litre TSI engine is the one which powers up our Skoda Laura petrol , which returns an economy of 13.37 kmpl and catapults itself from 0 – 100 kmph in 9 seconds.
The VW Jetta’s petrol edition will be priced in the range of Rs. 13 – 16 lakh. The Jetta petrol which is going to be launched by next year will take on its competitors like the Honda Civic, Renault Fluence and the Toyota Corolla Altis ending up in making the tough competition, even worse.
